Rabbi T'mimah Ickovits deciphers wisdom from Jewish mystical traditions, revealing  their relevance to life today.  Serving as a  Spiritual Guide and teacher, Rabbi T'mimah teaches classes, leads prayer; communal and public, mentors privatly, and compiles prayer books to unveil nuanced meaning of traditional prayer pertinent to 21rst century lives.  Following an 18-year career as  an electronics engineer, Rabbi T'mimah founded Ohr HaMakor; a home for Holistic Kabbalah in Santa Monica, CA.  Rabbi T'mimah compiles prayer books (siddurim) to draw out wisdom in liturgy that can be hidden in commonal prayer.  These siddurim integrate a traditional liturgy,  egalitaitrian translations that draw out the ecological meanings within the texts, with translated practices from schools of Kabbalah.  Her most  recent writings include Mystery of Seven; Siddur for Shabbat  Eve, designed to receive  Shabbat with music, mystery and joy and Hanukkah Lights - a guide for ritual around the Hannukiah drawing from Masters of Kabbalah with more in process.

Upcoming Classes:

Holistic Kabbalah - Erev Shabbat Kiddish; Friday Evening Shabbat Toast and  Blessing
Work dominates our lives and communities. While work and productivity are essential, many of us have gotten so good at it that it often becomes hard to break the work habit and open to something greater. Judaism offers a skillful means to break away from the work mode and enter into the sublime – the seventh day; Shabbat.
Holistic Kabbalah - Sh'ma Yisrael: Listen, Yisrael The Quintessential Jewish Mantra
"Sh'ma Yisrael; Listen, Yisrael" are the first two words of a section of the Torah used as a centerpiece of all morning and evening Jewish prayer services. It echoes the monotheistic message of Judaism. All is One; we are all interconnected. We impact one another. The Sh'ma is considered the most important prayer in Judaism, and its twice-daily recitation is a mitzvah from Torah.

Rabbi T'mimah's inspirations include Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi's teachings, an ongoing study of texts written by masters of kabbalah and merkavah mysticsm, Continuum Movement, nature, meditation, and science.

OhR HaMaKoR is a spiritual community in the Los Angeles area.   We delight in the ongoing process of renewing  Jewish practice as a means of drawing spiritual and ethical vitality into our lives to honor the legacies our ancestors left us.  We draw heavily from writings and wisdom of Masters of Kabbalah and Hassidic Rebbe's.    Song and Music are essential components to our ritual.  We honor the continuum of holy days and their their relationship to Earth's cycles.   We access spiritual nourishment in a variety of ways including prayer, the study of Kabbalah and Hassidic source texts, meditation, chanting, music, and movement to enhance both individual and communal experience. We embrace a global vision of the role of all peoples and spiritual paths in the healing transformation of life on planet Earth.  Rabbi T'mimah Ickovits serves as spiritual leader for Ohr HaMakor.  If this sounds like a community for you, click on the contact button to find out about upcoming events.
